Abstract
The paper presents theoretical aspects of the functioning of direct payments and LFA payments under the Common Agricultural Policy and the origins of their introduction. In the second part assesses the influence of these measures on farm incomes in the years 2004-2008 based on data from the FADN. Direct payments and LFA represent 11.68% to 38% farms incomes, which is significant support for farmers. The average total payment per farm ranged from 2332 zł in 2004, to 11027 zł in 2007. The LFA payments were 5-6 times lower than direct payments
