Abstract
The growth of an interest in FairTrade products worldwide is a consequence of the change of the value and consumers’ attitudes which start treating the consumption as moral choice. Being concerned about natural environment and the living conditions of producers from Third World countries they are ready to pay more than market prices what confirms their social and ecological conscience. Fair Trade is a social movement in which actively not only consumers, but also producers and distributors are becoming involved, as well as a number of non-governmental organizations. In spite of the intense development of this movement in the global scale, popularity of this idea and particularly its implementation, does not seem to proceed identically in all developed countries. The purpose of the paper is to describe the development of Fair Trade - social movement in the world, including its connections with the concept of corporate social responsibility, along with paying special attention to the popularity of this idea in conditions of the Polish economy.
