The unfavourable social-economic situation and distinct weakening of the public finance in Poland are inducing seeking for some causes of existing problems and the possibility of their improvement. Also, disadvantageous population forecasts are a matter of concern, so without radical changes it will be hard to keep the efficiently functioning social insurance system in the current shape. In the current situation the main focal interest for both the society, and the specialists is the functioning of the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund. According to the author, it is essential to impose amendments authorizing to insurance into the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund. Entitlements to insurance into the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund should depend on possessing agricultural farm which ensures its residents income on the subsistence level at least. A result of suggested changes of the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund will be limiting the number of members and beneficiaries, the distinct improvement in financial standing of the social insurance system and public finance, the gradual increase in the area of agricultural farm and their effectiveness.
